1. Why aren't you doing AROS?
We were most enthusiastic about AROS, however various issues came to light after our AROS announcement that could potentially undermine our utilization of it. While we will not be officially supporting AROS, we will endeavour to make hardware choices that should enable our machines to be viable and stable targets for AROS.

2. Why aren't you implementing PowerPC technology?
PowerPC accelerator cards were all the rage for classic Amigas in the late 90s, however the tech world has changed significantly since then. PPC is predominantly used in the embedded market, and those chips do not lend themselves well for desktop use due to their relatively low clock rates. PPC chips that even approach modern day computing requirements are expensive and relatively rare. The current generation of video game consoles use purpose-built PPC chips which are exclusive to those consoles. We believe the x86/x64 platform will remain the most advanced and versatile platform for many years to come.

3. Why don't you re-implement the classic Amiga chipset?
There are numerous projects with this goal and we believe the success or failure of these projects would not realistically change with our involvement. Commodore USA's goal is to provide modern Personal Computer hardware, unencumbered by the legacy constraints of classic hardware and software.

4. Why don't you have a boot option to run the classic Amiga operating system via emulation?
We believe that an emulated environment would be better served hosted within a more mature operating system environment. Our new Commodore operating system, will be able to launch classic Commodore and Amiga games in an emulated environment.

5. Will you repair my Commodore computers from the 80s and 90s?
I'm afraid we can't do that.

6. Will the new Commodore 64 be on sale in Europe?
It most definitely will.

7. Why don't you reproduce the C64c Slimline variant of the Commodore 64?
This is a distinct possibility for Christmas 2011.

8. Will there be localized keyboards available for the Commodore 64?
Yes, localized keyboards will be available. However the imprinting of the keys for some variants in small quantities may be cost prohibitive, in which case sticker kits will be available.

9. Can I buy the cases separately and put in whatever motherboard I want?
Whenever possible, cases will be available separately without motherboard. Currently the only exceptions are the VIC-Pro and VIC-Slim barebones systems which must utilize their own custom sized motherboard.

10. What is Commodore OS?
Our new Commodore operating system, will be a unique Commodore and AMIGA centric Linux distribution, that will grow over time into something far greater. Commodore OS will not be your run of the mill Linux distribution. Every consideration will be given to retaining the look and feel of the classic Workbench environment, however there are limits to what is possible at this time, and we do not seek to re-invent the wheel. Our sights are set on creating an operating system environment competitive with the likes of those offered by Microsoft and Apple. An operating system that is inviting and accessible to new and old Commodore owners featuring modern day paradigms. With the inclusion of a plethora of the best open source games and applications, we intend to champion the open source movement and show the world what open source is capable of.
